Austin ISD Performing Arts Center Wins 5-Star Rating from Austin Energy Green Building

July 22, 2015

Our congratulations to the entire team that worked on Austin ISD’s recently opened Performing Arts Center in the Mueller Community. The PAC was just awarded a five-star rating from Austin Energy Green Building, their highest honor. Only five other commercial buildings have achieved this recognition for sustainable design and construction practices. Some of the highlights of this award:

  • Achieved 62 out of a possible 77 points
  • Modeled energy savings of 31.6 percent
  • Indoor domestic potable water usage reduced by over 65 percent
  • Nearly 83 percent of construction waste diverted from landfill for recycling
  • Over 34 percent of building material contained recycled content with 51 percent sourced within Texas
  • Ninety-four percent of new wood was sourced from sustainably managed, Forest Stewardship Council-certified forests

Austin Energy Green Building was created by the City of Austin in 1990 and is now the nation’s most successful sustainable building program.

American Constructors is proud to have built this landmark project for Austin ISD.
